• When creating passwords use a combination of letters and numbers. Also, never use names of relatives or pets or dates, such as anniversaries or birthdays, these are easy for hackers to guess.
  
  
• Be sure to use a firewall as one tool to help protect your important data from hackers.
  
  
• If you are using a wireless router, be sure to set up the security on the router to prevent your home network from being broken into.
  
  
• Be sure to run an antivirus and antispyware scan of your system monthly, if not weekly. Be sure to keep your software up to date, new versions of spyware and viruses come out every day.
